Anthem
I spent a long time
trying to divide
growing up and growing old
falling apart
and coming together at the same time
are the same dark roads
It's been a hard climb
I try to keep my head up high
but my feet are on the ground
as my mind is in the clouds
long distance communication
is so inebriating
you sold me in arizona letters
on handmade stationery
I sit underneath a heart shaped bridge
watch me drift as the river runs red
'cause I was once told that love can only float
once it has gone to your head
If I see you standing there
before the ledge that disappears
I'll catch you in the air
and you can fly away with me
don't worry about a thing
you are breathing me
Now I know why
you're the reason why
Cause I was once told
"baby if your heart is beating
you can surely see me bleeding"
but I was blind
and her eyes dried as she swam on
the less you know the less it hurts
but can you ever be too sure
I was blind and she swam on
Baby, don't let go
